There is no life quite like a preacher’s life. It’s a high calling that’s sometimes lived-out in the ditches beside life’s highway where the Good Samaritan attends the wounds of a mistreated traveler.
It’s a life filled with exquisite joy and excruciating sorrow — sometimes both on the same day.
Few professions require the versatility and utility that’s demanded of a preacher. He must be both the bold prophet and compassionate priest. He must be able to interpret non-profit tax law, navigate projection software, make endtime prophecy understandable, and operate a toilet plunger. He’s expected to hobnob with the city fathers, commiserate with the disenfranchised, and inspire the college crowd.
A preacher’s life is lived on call. Trauma and tragedy can’t be conveniently scheduled, but the preacher must respond regardless. It’s not unusual for a preacher to neglect his family, and his own need for renewal, in the pursuit of fulfilling his call.
A Preacher’s Life podcast looks into a preacher’s life, his work, and his family. Each week, we will talk a bit about the work a preacher is called to do, pass along some leadership information we’ve gathered, and share some principles that will keep the preacher’s family united and strong.
Thanks for coming along with us!
